Commissioned Ranks

The three badges of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police that indicate the commissioned ranks are: A crown, a star and a crossed sword and baton. Depending on the dress, the badges are worn on slip-ons, shoulder boards, or directly on the epaulettes.

The commissioned ranks of the RCMP are shown below:
Non-commissioned officers

Since 1990, the non-commissioned officer' rank insignia has been embroidered on the epaulette slip-ons and continue to be based on British army patterns. Non-commissioned rank badges are worn on the right sleeve of the scarlet/blue tunic and blue jacket.

The non-commissioned ranks of the RCMP are shown below:
1. Commissioner 4. Chief Superintendent 1. Corps Sergeant Major 4. Staff Sergeant
2. Deputy Commissioner 5. Superintendent 2. Sergeant Major 5. Sergeant
3. Assistant Commissioner 6. Inspector 3. Staff Sergeant Major 6. Corporal
